When Your Marriage Just Doesn't Work Anymore

Divorce Mediation - Healing Paths CounselingTrained in general mediation and divorce mediation, I am committed to reducing the emotional trauma that can be inherent in family life and divorce which frequently occurs for the parents and for the children. As such, I offer non-attorney mediation for the family and divorce mediation services in an effort to avoid the distress and exorbitant financial costs of escalating court battles.

Family Mediation:

As a trained mediator, I will help your family mediate conflicts between children and couples over parenting issues, behavioral issues, spending habits, etc- everyday problems that left unresolved can fracture family unity and trust.

I understand the growth and development stages that children go through and how these stages may be impacting behaviors and family dynamics.

Divorce Mediation - Healing Paths Counseling

Divorce Mediation:

With divorce mediation, my clients commit to “take the fire” out of the divorce process, and agree to dissolve their marriage without going to court. Parents thus protect their children from enduring prolonged and hostilecourt battles that can lead to lasting trauma for all involved. I am a licensed Psychiatric Nurse/Therapist and I have an extensive background resolving high conflict divorce cases with as much of a minimum lasting traumatic effect as possible.

Typical mediation issues include child custody, maintenance, financial issues, and property issues. I mediate issues with couples at any stage of the separation and divorce process- even couples who have previously divorced through the court system and wish to resolve new or continuing issues such as child support, child custody or maintenance.

Divorce mediation offers many important advantages for the divorcing couple and the children:

  1. Personal control over resolution of all issues. In Court, the Judge gets a small glimpse of your individual situation and seldom sees the entire scope of your personal needs and desires. This results in judicial decisions that no one is happy with.
  2. Mediation inflicts less emotional trauma on spouses and children involved. As a licensed registered nurse and therapist, I understand child development and family dynamics allowing me to help “take the fire out of divorce” and soften the repercussions for all involved.
  3. Less time consuming, exhausting, and expensive court battles.
  4. Divorce mediation is private and avoids the distress and embarrassment of a public court battle.
  5. Studies have shown that couples who have worked together through a mediator are over three times more likely to uphold the terms of their agreement through the adversarial system.

Mediation for Restorative Justice:

Mediation for victim-offender criminal cases between the offender and the victim, again to avoid the court system and restore justice and peace.
